Odisha launched ‘Khushi’ scheme to provide free sanitary napkins

  • The Odisha State Government on 26 February 2018, launched ‘Khushi’ scheme.
  • It is a scheme to provide free sanitary napkins to schoolgirls across Odisha.
  • Under the scheme, the State will provide free sanitary napkins to 17 lakh girls in government and government-aided schools from Class VI to XII.
  • Odisha Chief minister Naveen Patnaik, during the launch of the Khushi scheme, also mentioned the earlier schemes laucnhed for women empowerment. Some of those schemes are; Mission Shakti (for economic empowerment) and MAMATA (a maternity benefit scheme) .
