e-SafeHER – a Cyber Security Awareness Training Programme

C-DAC Hyderabad in collaboration with Reliance Foundation has launched e-SafeHER, a nationwide cybersecurity awareness training programme aimed at empowering women in rural India.

Key Highlights

Target & Objective

  • The initiative aims to train one million women across rural India
  • Focuses on enabling women to safely and confidently participate in the digital ecosystem

Institutional Framework

  • Anchored under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Programme
  • C-DAC Hyderabad will develop training content and modules
  • Reliance Foundation will ensure on-ground dissemination

Focus on Grassroots Outreach

  • Implementation through women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Special emphasis on last-mile awareness in rural areas
  • Targets women increasingly using digital platforms for:
    • Financial transactions
    • Livelihood activities
    • Access to government and essential services

Significance

The e-SafeHER initiative comes at a time when digital adoption is rapidly expanding in rural India. However, cyber risks and lack of awareness remain key challenges.

By equipping women with cyber hygiene practices and digital safety skills, the programme aims to:

  • Reduce vulnerability to online fraud and cyber threats
  • Promote secure digital participation
  • Strengthen inclusive digital growth
