Earth Hour 2026

The Delhi Development Authority, in collaboration with WWF-India, organised the Sanjay Van Earth Hour Mahotsav – Forest Ethos to mark Earth Hour 2026, engaging citizens in a range of nature-based and educational activities.

Held at Sanjay Van, the event aimed to bring people closer to nature while raising awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. Participants took part in interactive sessions and activities designed to foster a deeper connection with forests and biodiversity.

About Earth Hour

Earth Hour, an initiative started in 2007 by World Wide Fund for Nature, is globally recognized for its symbolic “lights off” movement, where individuals, communities, and institutions switch off non-essential lights for one hour to show support for the planet.

The first Earth Hour was observed on March 31, 2007, in Sydney, where over 2.2 million people turned off their lights to highlight concerns about climate change. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide movement, observed annually on the last Saturday of March.

Officials noted that events like the Sanjay Van Mahotsav not only promote environmental awareness but also encourage citizens to adopt sustainable lifestyles and collective action for protecting the environment.
