Exercise KHAAN QUEST 2026

The Indian Army is participating in Exercise KHAAN QUEST, scheduled from 20 June to 3 July 2026 at the Five Hills Training Area, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The exercise is a multinational peace support operation drill conducted under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

It aims to enhance interoperability, joint planning, and operational coordination among participating armed forces in peacekeeping environments.

The exercise began in 2003 as a bilateral drill between the USA and Mongolia, and since 2006 has evolved into a multilateral exercise; the current edition is the 23rd iteration.

The previous edition was held in Mongolia from 14–28 June 2025.

The Indian contingent comprises 40 personnel drawn from a battalion of the Jat Regiment along with other arms and services.

Participation reflects India’s commitment to global peacekeeping and strategic cooperation with Mongolia.

Key training components include:

  • Establishment of static and mobile check points
  • Cordon and search operations
  • Patrolling and area domination
  • Evacuation of civilians from hostile areas
  • Counter–Improvised Explosive Device (IED) drills
  • Combat first aid and casualty evacuation

The exercise strengthens preparedness for United Nations peacekeeping missions and multinational operational environments.
