IONS Maritime Exercise (IMEX) TTX 2026

The Indian Navy hosted the IONS Maritime Exercise (IMEX) TTX 2026 at the Maritime Warfare Centre under the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, bringing together naval representatives from across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) to address evolving maritime security challenges.

The high-level tabletop exercise witnessed participation from member navies of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, along with international officers of IOS SAGAR and Indian Navy personnel. Delegates from countries including Bangladesh, France, Indonesia, Kenya, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Timor-Leste took part in the exercise.

The exercise gains added significance as India is set to assume the IONS Chairmanship for the 2026–2028 cycle, after a gap of 16 years, reflecting its growing role in regional maritime cooperation.

Conducted in a simulated environment, IMEX TTX 2026 focused on non-traditional maritime security threats, including piracy, trafficking, and humanitarian crises, along with complex operational scenarios.

The primary objective was to enhance coordination among participating navies through improved information sharing, streamlined decision-making processes, and validation of existing maritime security frameworks.
