Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan

Why in News?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ on 2 August 2026 as a nationwide campaign to mobilise youth against substance abuse and promote the vision of a drug-free India.

About the Campaign:

  • The campaign aims to prevent drug and substance abuse among young people and encourage them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
  • It seeks to inspire youth to become ambassadors of positive social change by spreading awareness about the harmful effects of addiction in their communities.
  • The initiative was initially launched as a pilot project in Kashi (Varanasi) and has now been expanded into a national campaign.
  • The campaign is supported by over 125 spiritual organisations and several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) under the Kashi Declaration.
  • It combines scientific awareness, community participation, cultural values and spiritual guidance to address the challenge of substance abuse.
  • The campaign aligns with the broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by promoting a healthy, productive and socially responsible youth population.
