PM disburses ₹2,400 crore under Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY)

The Prime Minister disbursed incentives worth approximately ₹2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) on 19 June.

  • The scheme came into effect on 1 August 2025.
  • Objective: To promote formal employment, encourage job creation, and expand coverage under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.

Key Features

Part A – Incentives for First-Time Employees

  • Applicable to first-time employees registered with EPFO.
  • Eligible employees must earn up to ₹1 lakh per month.
  • Provides an incentive equal to one month’s wage, subject to a maximum of ₹15,000, paid in two instalments.
  • Employees must remain in continuous employment for more than six months to receive benefits.

Part B – Incentives for Employers

  • Employers creating additional formal employment receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month per additional employee for two years.
  • Employers in the manufacturing sector are eligible for incentives for an additional two years, recognising the sector’s role in employment generation.

Financial Outlay and Targets

  • Total outlay: ₹99,446 crore.
  • Employment target: Creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period.
  • Around 1.92 crore beneficiaries are expected to be first-time entrants into the formal workforce.

Progress Achieved

  • Since August 2025, more than 70 lakh first-time employees have entered the formal workforce under the scheme.
  • Women account for nearly 30% of the beneficiaries.

Significance

  • Promotes formalisation of employment through EPFO registration.
  • Encourages industries to generate additional quality jobs, particularly in the manufacturing sector.
  • Supports the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision by strengthening employment generation, enhancing social security coverage, and boosting inclusive economic growth.
