PM Modi Becomes Longest-Serving Elected Head of Government in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government in India, marking a significant moment in the country’s political history. With 8,931 days in office, PM Modi has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling, who served 8,930 days as Chief Minister of Sikkim.

This achievement marks PM Modi’s entry into his 25th year in public office, combining his tenure as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

Political Journey

He first assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, serving for over 13 years until May 21, 2014. He was then sworn in as the 14th Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014.
