Why in News?
The 13th edition of the Sri Lanka–India bilateral maritime exercise, SLINEX-26, is being conducted at Visakhapatnam from 17 to 21 September 2026. The exercise began with the Harbour Phase, which will be followed by the Sea Phase. The Indian Navy is participating with INS Kavaratti and INS Jyoti, while SLNS Sindurala represents the Sri Lanka Navy.
About SLINEX
SLINEX is a bilateral maritime exercise between the Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy, conceptualised in 2005. It has evolved into an important platform for strengthening maritime cooperation, interoperability and mutual understanding between the two navies.
The Harbour Phase is being conducted under the aegis of the Eastern Naval Command and commenced with an opening ceremony and reception onboard INS Kavaratti for the crew of SLNS Sindurala. The exercise also provides an opportunity for both navies to enhance operational coordination and share professional experiences.
