A senior representative of Sohar Port has highlighted opportunities for Indian businesses and investment, positioning the port as a platform connecting regional and global markets.

About Sohar Port

Sohar Port is a major deep-water port and industrial hub in Oman, strategically located outside the immediate bottleneck of the Strait of Hormuz. It handles bulk cargo, petrochemicals and container traffic and is closely integrated with industrial and logistics activities.

Its location provides an alternative maritime gateway for trade moving between the Arabian Gulf and international markets. Along with ports such as Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, Sohar has strategic significance for reducing dependence on routes through the narrow Strait of Hormuz. Its connectivity with the Arabian Peninsula’s overland markets further enhances its importance as a regional logistics hub.
