Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge and cultural identity in the face of rapid global changes.

Addressing the inaugural edition of the Uttar-Poorv Janjatiya Basant Utsav held in Guwahati, the Governor—who also serves as Chairman of the North East Zone Cultural Centre—urged the youth to take pride in their roots while embracing progress and innovation.

Celebrating Culture and Unity

He noted that the festival symbolizes not only the arrival of spring but also reflects the spirit of unity in diversity, a defining feature of India’s cultural fabric.

Highlighting Northeast’s Heritage

The Governor highlighted that the Northeast region is home to:

  • Numerous tribal communities
  • Distinct traditions and languages
  • Rich music, dance, and art forms

He added that such cultural events provide an important platform to showcase and preserve this diverse heritage.
