What is LokOS?

The LokOS (Lok = People, OS = Operating System) platform has gained attention following the launch of the SHE-LEAPS (Self-Help Entrepreneur-Livelihoods and Enterprise Application for Prosperity and Sustainability) mobile application on 29 June 2026.

LokOS is a web and mobile-based digital platform developed under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) for the end-to-end digitization of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their federations.

DAY-NRLM is the Union Ministry of Rural Development’’s flagship rural poverty alleviation programme that promotes self-employment, skilled employment, and sustainable livelihoods for poor rural households.

LokOS provides a comprehensive digital solution for managing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) by digitizing member records, profiles, savings, lending, repayments, financial transactions, livelihoods, and convergence initiatives.

The LokOS Web Application enables administrators, E-bookkeepers, and transaction approvers to create and manage Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organizations (VOs), Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), and their members.

The LokOS Mobile Application facilitates the digital recording and management of Community-Based Organization (CBO) activities at the grassroots level.

The platform empowers communities by enabling real-time data collection, digital governance, and evidence-based decision-making.

SHE-LEAPS has been developed and implemented under the LokOS platform to strengthen women-led entrepreneurship and livelihood promotion.

Key features of LokOS include end-to-end digital management, unique digital IDs, digital financial records, livelihood profiling, role-based administration, and real-time analytics.

The platform enables efficient tracking of financial assistance, institutional performance, and beneficiary progress across community institutions.

LokOS also supports the Lakhpati Didi Initiative by facilitating large-scale beneficiary outreach, digital monitoring, and progress tracking, thereby promoting women-led rural entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
