World Yogasana Championship 2026

India emerged as the overall champion at the inaugural World Yogasana Championship 2026, completing a clean sweep with 114 medals, including 102 gold medals, at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad.

The five-day championship witnessed participation from 522 athletes representing 79 countries, highlighting the growing global appeal of Yogasana as a competitive sport.

A total of 31 countries won at least one medal, while 10 nations secured at least one gold medal during the event.

Japan finished second in the medal standings with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

Argentina secured third place, aided by the outstanding performance of Nabila Barraza, who became the most successful athlete of the championship with 2 gold and 3 silver medals.

India fielded a 122-member contingent competing across six age categories: Sub-Junior (10–14 years), Junior (14–18 years), Senior (18–28 years), Senior A (28–35 years), Senior B (35–45 years), and Senior C (45–55 years).

The championship was held from 4–8 June 2026 and featured events in Traditional Yogasana, Artistic Single, Artistic Pair, Artistic Group, and Rhythmic Pair disciplines.

Organised by Yogasana Bharat in association with World Yogasana and the Indian Olympic Association, the event marked a major milestone in the international recognition and development of Yogasana as a competitive sport.
