Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Asian Traditional Textile Museum

A diplomat from India’s Ministry of External Affairs recently visited the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Asian Traditional Textile Museum in in Siem Reap, Cambodia, highlighting India’s cultural diplomacy in Southeast Asia.

In a social media post, the Ministry noted that the museum is among the first of its kind in Cambodia, dedicated to showcasing the rich textile traditions of the Mekong-Ganga region and emphasizing the deep-rooted cultural linkages between partner countries.

The museum brings together the shared heritage of India, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation framework.

Exhibits at the museum include traditional handwoven fabrics, indigenous dyeing techniques, and cultural narratives reflecting centuries-old craftsmanship. It also houses a training centre for textile preservation, aimed at conserving and promoting these traditional skills for future generations.
