National Campaign on Entrepreneurship

Why in News?

The Ministry of Rural Development launched the second phase of the National Campaign on Entrepreneurship under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) on 21 August 2026.

The three-month campaign will run from 21 August to 21 November 2026 and aims to accelerate rural women’s entrepreneurship and promote both farm and non-farm enterprises.

Key Points

The campaign focuses on strengthening entrepreneurship among Self-Help Group (SHG) women through intensive enterprise handholding, formalisation, market access and digital adoption.

The second phase builds on the experience of the first phase, with greater emphasis on enterprise development, strengthening producer institutions and simplifying implementation processes.

It will support the promotion of enterprises across farm and non-farm livelihoods, while expanding the use of digital platforms and e-commerce for marketing SHG products.

The campaign will also strengthen producer groups and producer enterprises, helping rural women move from individual livelihood activities towards more organised and scalable businesses.

The initiative aims to contribute to the government’s vision of creating six crore Lakhpati Didis by enabling rural women to develop sustainable and higher-income enterprises.

‘Sankalp Shakti’

On the occasion, the Department of Rural Development released ‘Sankalp Shakti’, described as the first Rural Enterprise Technical Bulletin.

The bulletin will be published monthly and is intended to provide technical knowledge and practical guidance related to rural enterprise development.

‘Udyam Sakhis’

Community Resource Persons for Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EPs) and Business Development Service Providers (BDSPs) will be recognised as ‘Udyam Sakhis’.

This recognition seeks to provide greater visibility to community-level cadres who support rural entrepreneurs in areas such as enterprise promotion, business development and formalisation.
