Why in News?
The NITI Aayog released the latest edition of its “Trade Watch Quarterly” publication for Q1 of FY 2026–27 (April–June 2026) on 16 September 2026 in New Delhi. The publication provides an assessment of global and domestic trade trends amid heightened geopolitical and trade-policy uncertainties.
About Trade Watch Quarterly
The latest edition highlights that global trade remained resilient despite prevailing geopolitical and trade-policy uncertainties. Global goods trade reached approximately US$13.7 trillion in the first half of calendar year 2026, registering 12.5% year-on-year growth, while services trade grew by 10.5%.
India’s merchandise and services trade also continued to expand during the period. India’s total trade reached US$506.9 billion in Q1 FY27, registering 15.5% year-on-year growth.
