Siachen Day

On the occasion of Siachen Day, the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives while defending the strategically vital Siachen Glacier, known as the world’s highest battlefield.

The day marks the anniversary of Operation Meghdoot, launched on April 13, 1984. Under this operation, Indian forces successfully secured the dominating heights of the Siachen region in northern Ladakh.
