Union Health Minister Launches Aarogya Setu 2.0

Aarogya Setu 2.0 was launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 29 June 2026.

  • The revamped application serves as a single, citizen-centric digital gateway for accessing health services under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
  • It has been redesigned to function as a Personal Health Record (PHR) application, enabling individuals and families to securely manage their health information.

Key Features

  • Provides access to ABDM-enabled services, including:
    • ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) creation
    • Digital health record management
    • Scan & Register for seamless hospital registration
  • Enables AI-powered digitisation of medical records, including:
    • Laboratory reports
    • Scanned PDFs
    • Medical images
  • Uses Google Medical Data Toolkit, an open-source AI toolkit, to convert unstructured medical documents into standardised, machine-readable health data.
  • Generates a personalised digital health dashboard using digitised health records.
  • Supports integrated health monitoring with:
    • Vital health parameters
    • Personalised health reminders
    • Goal tracking
    • Wearable-device integration for:
      • Steps
      • Calories burned
      • Heart rate
      • Blood glucose levels

Objectives

  • Serve as a trusted digital health record for every citizen.
  • Promote adoption of ABDM services across the country.
  • Enable seamless, paperless access to healthcare.
  • Improve continuity of care through interoperable digital health records.

Background

  • Aarogya Setu was originally developed by the Government of India during the COVID-19 pandemic as a national digital public good for:
    • Contact tracing
    • Risk awareness
    • Citizen engagement
  • Under Aarogya Setu 2.0, the platform has evolved from a pandemic-response application into a comprehensive citizen-facing digital health platform aligned with the vision of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
